The Union employees of the contractor of the Barrie Transit operation are in a strike position starting Monday, March 23, 2026 at 12:01am.

Negotiations between the Union and MVT Canadian Bus Inc will resume on Friday, March 20, 2026 and hopefully result in a newly accepted and ratified contract.

If a contract between the company and the union is not accepted and ratified by the union members, they will be in a position to go on strike starting at 12:01am on Monday, March 23, 2026.

If the union goes on strike, only essential medical appointment trips will be able to be booked for "Specialized Transit" in Barrie.

Please be prepared to make alternate travel arrangements.
